Mentor Odell Clark, Glenn Cooper and I sat down and talk about mentoring apprentices and how apprentices are doing.
I spent the day with C-Tec students explaining the building trades and especially the Sheet Metal Workers Apprenticeship. I was allowed to talk to Welding Junior and Seniors both and in-between I was allowed some special time with the Architectural/Engineering students.
This three-day SMART MAP training provides an in-depth analysis on the problems associated with Substance Use Disorder and other problems associated with mental health issues affecting our members and their families. This includes suicide prevention and offers solutions in the form education of our mental health options covered in union health plans, developing relationships with the best mental health partners in the industry, and the cultivation of a strong and educated peer support network. As Training Coordinators, Instructors and Union Officials, you are on the front lines with our members and have seen the effects of these mental health problems. This training will help you further guide those members to the helping services that can change, and in some instances, save their lives.

Time spent today getting to know the Eastland career center welding students. I sure hope I convinced some to think about a career in the Sheet Metal Trade. I hope they visit our website at www.tinman24.org.
I have been lucky to be a council member on OSAC for many years, glad to be part of it and everything that we do as a group. OSAC oversees over 15,000 apprentices and 900 sponsors in the state of Ohio.
